Winter Wellness Activities

The winter months can be a challenging time to find motivation to get out and get moving during even the BEST of times. Who wants to bundle up and face the chillier temps when there’s always a new show to stream! But now more than ever, taking care of our health and wellness is super important. And fortunately, our Gateway neighborhood has some great area fitness options for mixing up the routine and inspiring better well-being. This week, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite health & wellness activities for winter, so take a look and let us know which ones you try!    

Skating at Brookfield Place

Head on over to The Rink at Brookfield Place for an outdoor winter activity that’ll get the blood bumping and the endorphins rushing! The Rink’s operations are headlined by Olympic skaters Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov. With public skating options, lessons, and events, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the ice! Public skating slots are timed and limited, so be sure to check the latest hours and reserve a spot in advance here.

   

Hot Yoga at VeraYoga

Beat the chill and find the warmth of inner peace in a hot open room yoga class at VeraYoga’s Tribeca location. Classes are limited to 8 spots and masks are required at all times. Additional Covid-safety regulations include temperature checks and health declarations. Sweat Sesh at Home

Need a workout but can’t stray far from home? No worries! The Club at Gateway has everything you need for a well-rounded sweat sesh. Our top-of-the-line fitness center features Peloton bikes, two fully equipped cardio rooms, and a weight room complete with strength machines, free weights, kettlebells, and more.

      

Jog or Stroll Along The Esplanade 

Bundle up on a sunny day for a walk or jog along the The Esplanade - the crisp air is just the thing to shake off the winter blues! Take in picturesque views of Battery Park City and the glittering Hudson River. Bring a friend along to join in some safe outdoor fun that’s sure to leave everyone’s spirits lifted. The waterfront walkway is also perfect for bike riding!

 

Hike in Hudson Valley 

Head out to nearby Bear Mountain State Park in the Hudson Valley for a day of fantastic winter hiking in a spectacular upstate setting. The mountain’s somewhat challenging trails offer plenty of reward at the top - enjoy sweeping views of the Hudson River and even the faraway NYC skyline if viewed from the right vantage point. Taking a step away from the city to unwind in nature is the perfect mini reset, and a great boost to physical and mental well-being!
