Seemingly from one day to the next, the city shifts from the chilly, gray days of winter to the sunny hope of spring, where every tree and flower on the block is suddenly in bloom! The change in seasons in NYC also brings a ton of great new outdoor and spring-inspired activities to take advantage of. Cheer on Your Favorite Baseball Team
As of April 1st, NYC’s outdoor stadiums are now permitted to reopen at 20% capacity, meaning it’s finally time to grab a hot dog and spend the afternoon rooting in-person for your favorite baseball team! Find Mets single game tickets on sale here and Yankees tickets here. There are certain covid-19 related safety precautions in place for attendance, so be sure to check all recent rules and regulations beforehand here.
Walk Through the Midst Bloom
This immersive spring pop-up experience promises to transport visitors away from the chaos of the past year, and into the hopeful promise of the new season. Organized at Absurd Conclave in Bushwick by creative group Euphoria, the interactive exhibit wants everyone to leave “with a fresh outlook towards a brighter tomorrow.” Walk through a series of rooms with creative murals and visual backdrops, then explore the pop-up vintage shop and vendors found at the exhibit’s end. "Meander" at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Head to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for a magical site-specific sound walk through the garden’s grounds. Created by Gelsey Bell and Joseph White, their meditative audio guide "Meander" offers a soothing way to experience the BBG at your own pace. "Meander" invites listeners to “sink into the complex patterns and fine details of the natural environment.” Listen to the audio walk here. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden also hosts Art in the Garden: Spring Weekends on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with casual pop-up music and dance performances.
Adventure at Coney Island
For the ultimate fun-filled day, take a mini-trip to Coney Island for the afternoon. The rides at Luna Park have reopened as of April 9th, meaning we can once again scream our way through the iconic Cyclone roller coaster or hop on Deno’s Wonder Wheel nearby. Temperature checks and pre-purchased tickets are in effect, so be sure to plan your visit ahead of time here.
