How to Have the Best NYC Staycation
As we head deeper into winter, many of us might normally be seeking a bit of a getaway right about now. Though making safe travel plans remains difficult with the challenges posed by the coronavirus, there’s still plenty of ways to plan a mini-escape right here in NYC. This week we’re sharing our guide to having the best staycation imaginable--no planes required! Read ahead for our tips for enjoying all the city has to offer!
Visit the Met
It’s easy to forget the city is full of world class museums when caught up in the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. A staycation is a good time to carve out a visit to one of these gems, like the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Entry to the Met is timed to comply with covid-19 safety regulations and space museum guests out, so you’ll want to plan your visit beforehand here. Timed tickets are also required for this year’s costume exhibition, About Time: Fashion and Duration, which traces a century and a half of fashion in celebration of the Met’s 150th anniversary.

Check Out a City Wine Garden
We might be skipping the vineyard vacations this year, but spending an evening at Rockefeller Center’s pop-up wine garden is the next best thing! Hosted by City Winery, the outdoor garden offers an open-air setting, complete with heaters, to sip and enjoy the iconic NYC location. Outdoor tables are first come, first serve, but guests can also reserve a Private Winter Dome for a more intimate experience. Private domes are available for 90 minutes for parties of up to 8 people, with a minimum spend requirement of $250.

Enjoy Dining Out
Escape to Italy at Baita--Eataly’s new Alpine-inspired dining experience in the streets of their Flatiron location. Transporting guests to an Italian winter getaway, the menu features cozy winter dishes and specialty seasonal cocktails. Sip a mulled wine while sharing a classic cold weather dish like raclette. The atmosphere will have you feeling you’ve just come off the slopes while safely enjoying outdoor dining here in NYC.

The latest installation at Chelsea gallery ARTECHOUSE is called Celestial. Featuring Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year, Classic Blue, the installation is meant to submerge visitors in the “sights, sounds, and sensations” of the ethereal color.
