Memorial Day Weekend at Gateway

May 27, 2022

Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of summer! If you don’t have plans yet, here are some of our top ideas:

Hit the pool! Gateway is excited to announce that the pool will be opening on Saturday, May 28! The pool will be open 7 days a week from 9:30am to 7:00pm. Reservations are required for pool use. We will be implementing an operation schedule with 3-hour time slots. Session times are 9:30am - 12:30pm, 12:45pm - 3:45pm, and 4pm - 7pm. Reservations can be made on the RentCafé App, or on the online resident portal. Looking forward to seeing you there!

If you’re craving the ocean to ring in the summer, look no further than Jersey Shore beaches. Take the trip down to the shore to find beautiful beaches, fun boardwalks, and delicious food. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the shore!

Have a picnic at one of the hundreds of parks in NYC! Enjoy the sun and a meal outside with some loved ones.

Walk the Battery Park City Waterfront! If you feel like keeping it casual this year, take a nice stroll along the waterfront. You can people watch, play volleyball, bring your dog to Sirius Dog Run, stop at one of the wonderful restaurants, there are endless options!

Head to Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade. It is the 155th year of this parade! Sponsored by the United Military Veterans of Kings County, the ceremony kicks off at 11am on Third Avenue and 78th Street in Bay Ridge, then proceeds along Fourth Avenue and ends with a 21-gun salute by the U.S. Army at Fort Hamilton. The NYPD and FDNY will also march, Brooklyn high-school bands will perform, and antique fire trucks and autos will be on display. If you’re a foodie, you have to check out Smorgasburg! This open air food market is every food lover’s dream. Smorgasburg WTC is held on Fridays, from 11am-7pm on Fulton + Church, at The Oculus.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend, tag us in your festivities! Wishing our residents the best weekend and a safe and Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
